Terms and Conditions

Booking Process

Black Desert Travel is an online travel service operating under the official name Black Desert Travel ehf (4908210740). These booking conditions govern all bookings with Any booking or order placed by you, whether through the company’s website or otherwise, will be considered as an offer by you to purchase the relevant package, service, products or other travel arrangements subject to the following booking conditions. No contract between you and Black Desert Travel shall come into existence until Black Desert Travel accepts the first confirmation deposit and acknowledge confirmation of the successfully processed transaction.


The person who makes the booking accepts these conditions on behalf of all members of the party and is responsible for all payments due from the party. By submitting a booking, you warrant and confirm that you comply with these arrangements.

Prices and currency

All prices quoted by Black Desert Travel are offered in our National Currency, the Icelandic Króna.

In the event of currency fluctuation, government taxes, or any such cost increase that is beyond Black Desert Travel’s control, Black Desert Travel is not to be held responsible for this type of variation. Black Desert Travel reserves the right to notify you of any increase to prices already published by Black Desert Travel on any and all platforms or media. After the final invoice has been issued, the price is guaranteed against any surcharge, unless the increase is due to government laws or currency changes. Black Desert Travel will absorb an amount equivalent to 5% of the package price. Amounts exceeding 5% will be charged but should the surcharge exceed 10%, you will be entitled to cancel your booking with a full refund.


VAT is included in all the prices quoted.


Terms of Payment

Payment for services and packages provided by Black Desert Travel shall undergo the following structure. A non-refundable deposit of 25% of the total price is required by Black Desert Travel at the time of booking and as a confirmation of your requested service. Full payment (75% of the total amount) should be received by Black Desert Travel within 6 weeks prior to arrival date. In the case of delayed payment, Black Desert Travel reserves the right to treat this as a cancellation and to withdraw its confirmation of the services.


Terms of payment and further information

Black Desert Travel accepts all major credit cards and electronic bank transfer. American Express, Discover and Diners apply high handling fee. Therefore, an additional 3% of the total invoice is debited to our clients. To avoid this additional fee and if possible, we recommend using a different major credit card provider. If you wish to proceed with the payment via electronic bank transfer instead, please communicate your preference with your assigned travel agents for bank coordinates and additional, detailed information.


In the event that Black Desert Travel is unable to obtain confirmation from a 3rd party supplier or in case of a changes in availability, Black Desert Travel will do anything within its power to find a suitable alternative solution and presented to the client.  If the customer does not accept the proposed adjustments, or if Black Desert Travel is not able to offer a plausible alternative, no charge will be made.



We advise all our clients to purchase
travel insurance to ensure the best protection of your travel investment.


All cancellations must be communicated in writing. In conformity with business practices within the Nordic travel industry, the travel agent is obliged to charge cancellation fees to passenger(s) as follows:


Cancellation – 3rd party tours and activities

Black Desert Travel offers a variety of day tours and activities provided by our trusted partners. Depending on the tour and its operator, cancellation and terms and conditions vary. We kindly ask our clients to carefully review the terms and conditions linked to the selected day tour.


Cancellation & Changes of Bookings (1-9 persons):

Black Desert Travel reserves the right to charge or withhold a portion of the total amount for the package or service, depending on the arrival of a written notice of cancellation.
More than two weeks prior to arrival: 25%
Less than two weeks prior to arrival: 50%
Less than 72 hours prior to arrival: 100%


Cancellation – Groups (10 or more):

Black Desert Travel reserves the right to charge or withhold a portion of the total amount for the package or service, depending on the arrival of a written notice of cancellation.
More than twelve weeks prior to arrival: 30%
Less than twelve weeks prior to arrival: 80%
Less than 7 days prior to arrival: 100%


Notice of Cancellation & Terms and Conditions for MICE and Events:

For larger groups, meetings, incentive trips and events, each program will be designed based on our clients’ requirements and needs. With the initial offer, you will receive an overview of the cancellation terms based on the size of the group and travel dates. Black Desert Travel will stipulate a specific contract with the client, upon confirmation of the service.


Some of our packages may have stricter cancellation policies, if so they will be stated under detailed information attached to the package information.

Please note that cancellation by passenger(s) within a group may either result in a price increase for the whole group or a cancellation fee being charged to the passenger(s) who has canceled.

Should your day tour be canceled due to bad weather conditions or other events beyond our control, Black Desert Travel will refund your tour minus a 5% handling fee.


Rental cars

For all packages that include a rental vehicle, the terms and conditions of the applicable third-party car rental apply. Black Desert Travel is not responsible for any restrictions imposed by the car rental company on the driver, nor is Black Desert Travel liable for any damages or injuries caused or suffered by clients.


Liability and Force Majeure

Black Desert Travel disclaims responsibility for any loss, damage, accident, injury, sickness, or schedule change due to weather, strike, pandemic, or any other cause beyond Black Desert Travel’s control. Black Desert Travel acts in good faith, and cannot be held responsible for any agent, hotel, coach operator, airline, guide, restaurant or any other person’s or company’s acts, defaults, or delays. Black Desert Travel reserves the right to alter routes, itineraries, or departure times, without prior notice, should the necessity arise as your safety is our utmost priority. In the case of any changes to flights (domestic and international), the passenger is responsible for any additional costs incurred as a result of such changes (i.e. additional hotel nights, meals, transfers, etc.), at the time provided. To cover any unforeseen delay, loss or other mishaps, Black Desert Travel advises all travelers and clients to acquier comprehensive travel insurance to ensure the best protection of your travel investment in case of any loss, damage, accident, injury, sickness, or schedule change beyond our responsibility.


Travelers are advised that all activities are undertaken entirely at their own risk. Travel conditions in Iceland can be extreme and unpredictable. Black Desert Travel strongly recommend all travelers inform themselves before travelling on the rapidly changing weather, road conditions, and outdoor travel tips. Our goal is to provide excellent customer service for which we maintain strict quality monitoring. If at any point during, before or after you receive our services you are dissatisfied, we want to hear about it. We recommend that you contact us as soon as any incident arises. If you are unable to do so at the time, you must advise Black Desert Travel in writing within 7 days of your return. If you fail to do so, this may jeopardize your right to compensation. All information on the website is subject to change. Black Desert Travel reserves the right to alter/change/correct mistakes that may possibly appear on the website or any other platforms or media used to promote prices or information.


Lost luggage

Black Desert Travel is not responsible for lost items and is unable to assist during the process of tracking and retrieving the missing luggage. We recommend our guests to purchase travel insurance to protect their belongings and their travel investment.

Travel Documents and Vouchers delivery

Travel documents and vouchers will be delivered to you electronically and/or in physical format upon arrival.

Applicable Law

By using Black Desert Travel Service, you accept that this agreement shall be governed, construed, and enforced in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Iceland.
